Keeping Busy In The Winter
2/5/2014:
We are back up and running! We haven't been updating much {or at all} lately, but we have been retrained on how to run and update the webpage, so there will be more frequent updates. This winter has been very cold and snowy here in Minnesota. The forecast is calling for -10 to -15 below tonight with the wind chill reaching as low as -40. On the warmer days, we have kept the trucks busy hauling corn to the local ethanol plant.
Cole has also been busy in January going to TEPAP - The Executive Program for Agricultural Producers. There he learned financial, human resource management, SWOT analysis, economic outlooks, and a lot on networking with other great producers from around the world. It was intense, and is excited to go back next January for unit two. He also spent a few days in Chicago attending the Top Producer Seminar, and Tomorrow's Top Producer. Again that is a wonderful event with insightful speakers, and networking with producers, speakers, industry representatives, and Top Producer staff. There have also been some other events as well as peer group meeting. The next few years look to be challenging, so he is spending a significant amount of time learning, and analyzing the business to be on the leading edge in the future.
Spring is quickly approaching, although with the cold weather it feels like it will never arrive, so we have also been getting equipment ready, and making plans for the crops that will be planted.

Cole and Katie just arrived home tonight after spending a few days in Scottsdale, AZ attending the TPEN, Top Producer Executive Network, Signature Event. It was a great networking opportunity with other producers from across the country. There was a variety of speakers with a few of the main sessions featuring speakers from outside of agriculture. That helps bring a fresh perspective to core business concepts. Also, the weather was perfect, a great break from winter. They were welcomed home by 4 inches of fresh snow and a winter storm watch!
